In realizing the need for authentic youth engagement and learning opportunities for our young and vibrant students within the community, Haysboro Community Association is pleased to announce the startup of the Youth Summer Program throughout July and August. The goal of the program is to offer a unique experience for kids currently in grades five through nine to learn new and applicable life skills, develop a sense of community stewardship through volunteerism, as well as foster rich friendships with other kids in the area through fun and engaging activities.

Events and activities will be entirely student-focused and age-specific, with the goal of offering of two or three activities per week. Some tentative ideas include: an outdoor movie night, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, ball hockey league, and outdoor mural painting to name a few.

The program will be run by our Youth Community Event Co-Ordinator, Augusta Ehikioya. Augusta is enrolled at the University of Calgary in her final year of her Bachelor of Education degree. We are sure her youthfulness, professionalism, and a sincere devotion to and appreciation for middle/junior high aged kids will prove an asset to developing a strong and worthwhile experience for our youth in the community.
